Old MacDonald
Old MacDonald

Years ago, when I started doing machine embroidery, I had all these wonderful, cute designs, and wondered how I could possibly incorporate them into fun baby gifts that could be passed down from one generation to the next.

During this thought process, I came up with the idea of making “Fabric Soft Books”.  The first book I ever made was for a niece’s baby boy.  It was “Old MacDonald” animals embroidered on different colored felt pages.  Many new titles soon followed:  Noah & the Big Flood, COWS, Silly Teddy Bears, Sea Sillies, and even Silly Aliens.  These books took hours to embroider and were very labor intensive.

Many people asked if these books were for sale.  Because they took so many hours to stitch out (sometimes as many as 12+ hours) and put together, I explained that the price I would have to charge would be exorbitant.

When I purchased my commercial embroidery machine in 2010, it provided a way to stitch these wonderful little books at a price that was affordable.  It still takes approximately 7+ hours to stitch out some of these books, which explains why the price is higher than what you might find at Wal-Mart.   Each book is filled with its own little differences and flaws, and all are sewn with love and prayer.

These books are meant to be loved and handled by chubby little fingers.  When it becomes dirty, (meaning the book), it can be thrown in the laundry and washed on the gentle cycle using cool water and mild detergent.  A warm iron may be needed to “flatten” the pages.
What a wonderful keepsake for those special little ones in your life!
